Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say preliminary tests indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A senior official commented the incident rendered him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in five years prior.
