PSG has now secured the prestigious trophy on 14 separate times.
Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.
The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match between the French league champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the net early on.
However, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.
In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the final moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.
From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.
Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
